The only thing I am left wanting is an official Filipino cosplayer for Josie Rizal. I want to say that she can capitalize off of punishes and counter-hits but I would not know until someone makes a character breakdown. The only thing I can say is she looked like she had a standing dodge in the trailer and her fighting style is based off of escrima, a Filipino martial art that is commonly seen as a kind of stick fighting but can be done empty-handed, which comes off as a kind of kick boxing. I cannot say much about the trailer because of my unfamiliarity with how Tekken works beyond a basic level.

I mean, it was not hard to find a Tekken cabinet in an arcade but finding other fighting game series was very different. It goes without saying that my excitement is a product of representation, given that the Philippines is a huge fan of the fighting game series. This is something I have wanted: a playable Filipino character in a game. However, Tekken 7 may challenge me to get good because it has been officially announced that a female Filipino character named Josie Rizal, named after a famous Filipino historical figure, José Rizal, is going to be a part of the playable cast during Tekken 7’s run. Games like Tekken and Soul Calibur have been a struggle for me to learn. I grew up playing Marvel vs Capcom 2 (as a straight masher because I was 5 and no one I knew could play the game), and Super Smash Bros. But it is just because I never really got used to a 3D fighting game.
